Brief Overview of Southern Delaware communities


Highlights of Sussex County's Coastal Towns: 

Generally, the price increases the closer you get to the Lewes Beach and Rehoboth Beach, however there are still really great deals in other towns still very close to Lewes and Rehoboth Beach.
Bethany Beach: One of the “Quiet Resorts” this town is a perfect retreat for people who want a quieter, more natural beach experience. The town is in the center of the region's ecotourism attractions with it’s proximity to Delaware Seashore State Park and is perfect for those who want to bike, bird watch, paddle or hike.
Dewey Beach: Heading just south, Dewey Beach offers windsurfing, kayaking and jet skiing on the bay to skim boarding along the ocean's edge, water sports rule here; also known as a night life hot spot as well as eclectic, casual restaurants and pubs.
Fenwick Island:Tucked along the southern border of the state, just alongside Ocean City, MD, the town of Fenwick Island is the Delaware beach destination that has everything a family needs. To the north, Fenwick Island State Park offers limitless opportunities for sunbathing, fishing, windsurfing and more. In town, there are endless opportunities for kids' fun, whether it's a round of putt-putt, a go-kart ride, or some delightfully wet waterslide fun at Viking Golf Amusements and Thunder Lagoon Water Park.
Lewes: Calm bay beaches or fun ocean waves, a rich nautical past, historic churches and homes dating back to the 1600’s, lighthouses, quaint main street with boutiques, craft shops and many great places to dine. Bay and ocean beaches in and near Lewes, Delaware provide swimming, fishing, boating and a host of other watersports. Located off of Cape Henlopen Drive, Beach 1 and Beach 2 provide guarded swiming from Memorial Day to Labor
Rehoboth Beach: This town calls itself "The Nation's Summer Capital" because of the number Mid-Atlantic tourists that vacation here. Rehoboth Beach offers tax free upscale shopping, gourmet restaurants and a mile-long boardwalk loaded with fun family activities.
Slaughter Beach: A small residential beach community on the Delaware Bay and surrounded by Primehook Wild Life Refuge, Slaughter Beach is a treasure to those lucky enough to know it. Slaughter Beach is the perfect location nature lovers, boaters, fisherman, and anyone who enjoys being surrounded by nature! The town was founded in 1681 and incorporated in 1931.
Inland Towns:

Georgetown: Located at the heart of Sussex County. Georgetown is the county seat where individuals and businesses from across southern Delaware meet for work and play. Many enjoy calling Georgetown home because of the central location and beautiful rural scenery.

Lincoln:  A small unincorporated community in northern Sussex County, Delaware, United States. It is part of the Salisbury, Maryland-Delaware Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Milford: This is a city that feels like a town. There is everything from a giant Super Walmart to small boutiques, and all of the restaurants you know and also many family owned restaurants. Health care is easily accesible at Bay Health Hospital and Emergency Center.
Millsboro: A small rural town that is essentially surrounded by water with Millsboro Pond, Ingrams Pond, Betts Pond and the Indian River. This charming town was established in 1792 and eventually incorporated in 1893.

Milton: This town calls itself “Delaware’s Smallest Wonder” and is a classic example of life in a small historic town. There is an extensive Victorian home district, shops and dining in relatively rural area.
